How Novello Rose was born
It can be hard to find the right gifts for the right people, endlessly searching and browsing products that we aren't sure whether someone will like or appreciate.
Simon & Spencer, fellow keyboard players and conductors on over forty West End productions, pondered this issue between shows one evening. They were trying to think of a respectful, long-lasting gift for a healthcare professional who had gone above and beyond the call of duty. There seemed to be nothing on the market that quite captured the sentiment that was wanted to be expressed.
The idea of an original composition, in an audible and ornamental format seemed suddenly obvious as musicians. It was something unique, personal and irreplaceable, and this was the first Novello Rose musical dedication.
The recipient was so delighted with the gift and title that Simon & Spencer felt it might be something that others would also have the opportunity to enjoy giving or receiving.
Simon & Spencer take great pride in knowing that their creations take on an enchanting, richer meaning the moment a title is claimed. Stories of wonderful people deserving recognition or thought are inspiring to others and the gift of a unique piece of music is a wonderful way to ensure somebody feels special.
Victor Hugo, author of Les Miserables put this perfectly when he exclaimed, “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words, and that which cannot remain silent.”
